Message from Our Bishop
Antoine-Charbel Tarabay

“For it is Jubilee and is to be holy for you” (Leviticus 25:12). His Holiness Pope Francis has proclaimed 2025 as a Jubilee Year of Hope, calling upon the faithful to embark on a sacred journey as pilgrims of HOPE, whether by traveling to Rome or by participating in local celebrations within their own dioceses. This Jubilee is a time of grace, renewal, and spiritual pilgrimage.

The theme for this Jubilee is drawn from Romans 5:5: Spes Non Confudit – “Hope Does Not Disappoint.” This is a profound reminder that Christian hope is unshakable because it is founded in God’s love, which never fails us. As Pope Francis reminds us: “Christian hope does not deceive or disappoint because it is grounded in the certainty that nothing and no one may ever separate us from God’s love.” (Spes Non Confudit, n.3)

Hope is more than an emotion; it is a virtue that sustains us in times of difficulty and uncertainty. It is a light in darkness, a strength in adversity, and a promise of new life in Christ. This Jubilee calls us to renew our hope in Christ, to bear witness to it in our lives, and to become messengers of hope for the world.

Inspired by the celebrations in Rome, our Maronite Eparchy has organised a year-long program reflecting on key themes of hope. We will also honour the dedication, service, and volunteer work of many individuals within our Maronite community.

I invite all parishes, communities, and individuals to take part in this sacred time of renewal and in the events planned throughout the Jubilee Year. Whether through pilgrimage, prayer, acts of mercy, or reflection, let us walk together as people of hope, trusting in the faithfulness of God’s promises.
