GOLDEN JUBILEE EVENTS AND RELICS SCHEDULE

On the Feast of St Maroun, on 9 February 2023, His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay launched the Golden Jubilee of our Eparchy and welcomed the relics of St Maroun, St Charbel, St Rafqa, St Nehmetallah and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop at St Maroun Cathedral, Redfern.

“The journey of holiness and openness begins right here, right now, with us. And that it does not end with us. It is for our children, their children, and our brethren all over the world, that all the world may hear the Gospel,” said Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay.

The main focus of the year has been a spiritual experience when we bring to our parishes and organisations first class relics of our saints for their veneration, in a reliquary specially designed and created by sculptor Toufic Mourad, on the Occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Maronite Eparchy of Australia. The year will culminate in a visit by the Maronite Patriarch, His Eminence and Beatitude Mar Bechara Boutros Cardinal Rai, who will celebrate the Golden Jubilee Mass on Sunday 24 September at Ken Rosewall Arena (Homebush NSW), for a congregation expected to reach almost 10,000.

What better way to celebrate a Golden Jubilee in the country which has provided Maronites with hope and opportunity for over 170 years, than to come together as one community. Let us reflect on and give thanks to the Lord our God, who has gathered us in faith and communion.
